21 & 22 Week Update

There hasn't been many significant changes over the last few weeks but I love reading these updates back, so I'll update with the latest. I can't believe how big she's getting now and I love reading my Pregnancy + app every day to see how she's getting on. She's supposed to be around the size of an eggplant (or aubergine if you're English).

How far along? 23 weeks & 1 day.
Total weight gain: This last couple of weeks I've noticed my weight suddenly shooting up after not gaining anything for half of my pregnancy. I'm now 5lbs up.
Maternity clothes? Other than growing out of 3 maternity bras so far, no new maternity clothes. Sticking to my regular clothes for as long as possible!
Stretch marks? Tons, too many to count now, mainly all down my legs and sides. None yet on my belly touch wood! Guess I've been very unlucky but I'm just hoping with repeated moisturising and exercise post baby, they will at least fade.
Sleep: Pretty good, no complaints but my belly is starting to get too heavy now and I don't find the pregnancy pillow helps :(
Best moment this week: Tons of kicking. Ollie is finally starting to catch the kicks but usually when I say she's kicking now, she stops.
Miss anything? Now the weather is getting nicer, I'd love to have a glass of cider occasionally and non-alcoholic cider is rare to find.
Food cravings: Nothing in particular but I am starting to eat more and more!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing this fortnight.
Gender: Girl!
Labour signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Itchy skin, sore ever-growing boobs, increased toilet trips, heartburn occasionally, uncomfortableness. You name it.
Belly button in or out? It's gone flat now but it looks close to popping out!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy but very emotional, prone to crying for absolutely no reason.
Looking forward to: Moving house, more lovely weather & reaching 6 months next week!

Last week, Thor (our girl kitten) was spayed which was an emotional day for me. I hated leaving her at the vets for the day and being my pregnant emotional self, I of course cried as I left. Thankfully she is recovering well but has to wear the buster collar, aka cone of shame, for a full 10 days which she hates. Both kittens are both on their way to being let outside at our new house and making some new kitty friends :).

Pregnancy Skincare Favourites

Ever since getting pregnant, my whole life completely changed overnight, starting with my skin. Within days of finding out that I was pregnant, my skin became incredibly itchy. I heard of this before becoming pregnant and like many others probably reading this, think it sounds like a pretty easy symptom to control but when it's 24/7, annoying isn't the word!

The products I've shown have been my saviour for moisture, stretchmarks and keeping itching at bay for the last 5 months.

Itching

Doublebase Gel - now this is a doctor prescribed product but if you are also suffering with itchy skin, I would really recommend this product. Despite it having pretty cool packaging, it soaks in immediately and is the one and only thing that has soothed my itchy skin!

Moisture

Daytime - the famous Palmer's Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion For Stretchmarks has featured heavily and twice a day in my skincare routine. It's not just great for stretchmarks but moisture in general as my skin is dry at the best of times. I've already gone through a few bottles and will be sure to keep using this post-baby.

Evening - Palmer's also have a massage cream which is a much thicker version of the regular and I do actually prefer this but it's not quick to soak in so isn't great for mornings before getting dressed. I wish the tube was bigger as I've gone through quite a few of these too.

When I want a pamper evening and I'm looking for body butters, I always turn to the same 2 brands that I can rely on. The Body Shop do the best body butters and I'm sure everybody agrees! Brazil Nut is my favourite range although it is seasonal, but I make sure to stock up when it does come back into stock, however I do also recommend every single one of their body butters. Long lasting scents which lasts until your next shower.

Champneys are also one of my top favourite brands. Ever since I stumbled across their Distant Shores range I was hooked. As you can tell, I'm all about the scents! Their body butter soaks in a lot quicker than The Body Shop's but is just as moisturising and long lasting.

Bathing

Sanex Advanced Dermo Repair Bath Cream has the best fresh smell! I love the long lasting scent after a bath and it's so relaxing in the evening. It's a really thick moisturising consistency that doesn't aggravate my skin further.

N-Spa Jojoba and White Jasmine Body Wash - I love this smell too. N-Spa is one of my favourite ranges and is such good value. On a side note, the candle version of this scent is heavenly too! It's not good for really itchy days as it's quite perfumed but if you want a luxurious shower and body wash that will leave you smelling amazing, look no more.

Sorry for the lengthy post but I didn't want to miss anything out! I will be sure to update you with my facial skincare products very soon.

I hope you're all enjoying this lovely Spring weather we've been having over the last couple of weeks in the UK! If you can recommend any products you think I might like feel free to list them below.

Have a great weekend all!

19 & 20 Week Update

The last few weeks I have seen the most changes in both myself, baby and my body. It's also been the best few weeks and I couldn't be happier. If you follow me on Instagram (paulab90), you will already know some pretty exciting news that happened a couple of weeks ago!

How far along? 21 weeks & 1 day.
Total weight gain: 3lbs - a huge difference and I notice the weight creeping most days in fact! I'm pretty sure my boobs contribute heavily to those 3lbs!
Maternity clothes? No new ones yet.
Stretch marks? Yep - genetics suck!
Sleep: Pretty well on the whole.
Best moment this week: So many great moments!
1. Seeing our baby again at the 20 week anomaly scan. We got the all clear that she's all well in there which is great news! It's quite surreal that was the last time we'll see her for a good while yet!
2. The other best moment was, of course, our engagement. It wasn't quite a shock but I'm looking forward to our next stage in life together soon :)
3. The kicks are now quite frequent and she likes to kick in some weird places. Thankfully it isn't painful yet, but can be quite disruptive!
Miss anything?  The occasional alcoholic beverage, especially over Easter at our families, along with lots of full fat coke!
Food cravings: No constant cravings but chocolate has featured quite heavy, it was Easter after all...
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still the usuals along with motion sickness generally isn't too great lately.
Gender: Girl.
Labour signs: Nope.
Symptoms: The kicking as I described earlier. My boobs have gotten literally out of control now and I've already gone up over 2 cup sizes which is insane, I hope they stop soon!
Belly button in or out?  Slowly it's getting quite flat which is so creepy, I hate belly buttons at the best of times especially out-ies!
Happy or moody most of the time: Very happy :)
Looking forward to: We're actually in the process of unfortunately having to move house again, a few months after our last! As annoying as it is, we can hope that this will be the last for a while so I can start to decorate the nursery!

So there we have it, time is still flying by with lots of dates to look forward to. I love keeping an eye on a few girls I follow on Instagram and Youtube that are due around the next few months, it's so exciting!
