Top Lip Balm Products

Top Lip Balm Products La Vida Fresa

If you've been a long time reader, then you may already know I suffer from really bad dry lips year round. I guess it ties in with my dermatitis which I mainly suffer with on my scalp, but also get dry skin as a result. I've tried countless, and I really mean countless, lip balms over the years and these are my favourites.

Nuxe Reve de Miel. Ah, I've sung praises for this product a couple of times before on this blog here and here. I can't say more than my previous reviews say except I just bloomin' love this product! As an overnight treatment, it really does work wonders when I wake up and makes lipstick apply much smoother. I've also got this in stick form which is great for on the go (no hygiene issues re putting finger in the pot!)

Burts Bees Beeswax Original Lip Balm. Back in one of my first posts in 2012, I posted my lip balm collection here which featured this product (cringe) and I have re-purchased this a good 20 times since. I have one in my car, bedroom, handbag, coat pockets, you name it! It is the one thing I swear by that really does help restore my lips moisture. I don't rave about this enough, but the re-purchasing alone shows how much I love it. I buy it off Ebay as it's quite a bit cheaper and includes free p+p.

Caudalie Lip Conditioner. Out of the 4 this is maybe not one I reach for as much, but if I can't find any of the others, or it's closest then I'd happily reach for this. It feels pretty luxurious and creamy, but I find it doesn't give me as much moisture as I personally need. I first bought this back in 2013 thanks to Gemsmaquillage and posted my first impressions here.

The Body Shop Aloe Lip Care. I bought this due to bloggers raves and my love of The Body Shop. I've tried nearly all of their range and love it, this lip balm is no exception. As much as I'm not a huge fan of the tube itself, sometimes you can squeeze too much then you end up eating it, not ideal! The lip balm itself is quite thick and is good to lather on in the evening.

So these are my favourites, that don't seem to be budging anytime soon. Which are your favourite lip balms? Do you have any recommendations maybe I haven't tried?

Top 5 Favourite Nail Polishes

Winter isn't my favourite season and I tend to wish my life away waiting for Spring/Summer as I love it. Whilst there isn't much sunshine, I like to inject some colour in my clothes, makeup and nails to make me feel Spring/Summer ready! My latest favourites I've been using on rotation aren't quite Winter appropriate but the colours are what I'm drawn to the most in my collection.

You may see a little theme running through the 5 I've chosen, I love Barry M, in particular the Gelly Hi-Shine range. They do amazing colours and are so cheap and easy to pick up in Boots/Superdrug. The  Hi-Shine formula is easy to work with and you could even get away with just one coat. The matte range is similar in consistency but I find that it doesn't look as good as the Gelly range.

Barry M Shades L-R - Matte Malibu, Gelly GreenberryPomegranate - £3.99 each
The Barry M Gelly range I've featured are shades Pomegranate and Greenberry. Pomegranate is a tad darker in real life than on the photo and you could easily get away with wearing it all year round. I also featured Greenberry in this review if you'd like to see it in action!

Essie Ballet Slippers - £7.99 Superdrug (watch out for offers at Fragrance Direct too!)
Essie Ballet Slippers is a favourite amongst bloggers and it's clear to see why. If I had to describe it I'd say it reminds me of the perfect "Wedding Day nail colour". It's even been reported that Her Royal Highness, The Queen only wears this shade too!
One coat gives your nails a nice pearly sheen, whilst 2 coats shows a gorgeous creamy white that is understated yet classy.

Models Own Northern Lights
I had to include a glitter, after all a good third of my nail polish collection features it! Models Own is another favourite brand and whilst at Westfield Stratford recently, I stopped by their Bottleshop where they had a 6 for £20 deal that was too good to pass up. I can't find this online any more but believe this is quite an old one, maybe you can spot it in stores!

These are my top 5 current favourites, I'd love to hear which yours are! Please leave me a comment telling me :)

MyProtein Women's Fitness

MyProtein Total Nutri-Greens
My Protein Total Nutri-Greens (*) - £7.99
Like many of you, my New Years Resolution for 2015 was to become healthier, fitter and generally a lot more energetic. When My Protein got in touch about trying out some of their Women's Fitness products, I jumped at the chance. Both myself and my Boyfriend regularly use the site so I knew what to expect and it didn't disappoint again.

Whilst I keep seeing lots of healthy green smoothies, I just can't bring myself to drink one too often, this is where the Total Nutri-Greens comes in. It's packed with 22 superfoods including Spirulina, Wheat grass, Acerola Berry, Broccoli, Spinach leaf, Pomegranate, Apple fibre, Tomato, Elderberry, Blueberry and Chlorella. This doesn't sound the most appetising mix, but it's great to mix with water, protein shake or juice (but water is recommended). It comes in unflavoured and tropical flavour, you can of course use the My Protein FlavDrops which come in a whole variety of better tasting flavours to mix with your favourite protein or Total Nutri-Greens.

That being said, it doesn't particularly taste great so I need to stop up on some of the FlavDrops, I've got my eye on the Maple flavour!

MyProtein BCAA Raspberry Lemonade
My Protein BCAA Raspberry Lemonade (*) - 250g - £14.49
Whenever I stock up on more BCAA's, my Boyfriend always thinks he can steal the majority of it and this time was no exception. MyProtein have a new flavour that sounded my cup of tea, Raspberry Lemonade. It didn't disappoint and BCAA's taste so good! I usually have it just with water or if I'm in a rush/being lazy will mix it with whey protein.

BCAA stands for Branch Chain Amino Acids and are essential amino acids which are required to maintain lean tissue. Unlike other nutrients, BCAAs are metabolised in the muscles directly instead of in the stomach. I personally find they give me a lot of energy in my fitness sessions, but mainly they help me recover quickly after intense sessions.

I highly recommend you to try them if you want to get some extra energy from amino acids. I have previously reviewed the Berry Blast version of BCAA so I'll pop the link here so you can check that out too if you're interested.

I hope that's helped you if you're looking at purchasing some new supplements for your gym/fitness routine. Let me know if you've tried any of the above products and if you have any MyProtein recommendations?

Ebay Wishlist

After scouting Ebay far too much lately, I thought I'd compile some of the favourites that have been added to my wishlist recently, to be purchased very soon!

Bath and Body Works Pocket Bacs Hand Gel - £2.50 here.
I've bought these time and time again but love seeing new scents that they bring out. Handy in my kit and my handbag. Forever wishing they brought Bath and Body Works over here though!

10 x Compressed Face Sheet Masks - £0.99 here
I tried these from Muji a while ago after my Mother-in-Law bought them as she thought I'd like them, she was so right. A strange complex but basically you put on any cleanser, toner, moisturiser etc that you wish and it expands to fit your face like a sheet mask. Pop it on, leave to dry and then ta-da!

More Issues Than Vogue Phone Case - £5.99 here.
I use this seller all the time for my phone cases. After recently upgrading to the Iphone 6 a month ago, I've been on the hunt to add to my collection of cute cases and this one is my cup of tea. The texture of the cases is honestly like no other, I need this design in my life!

Victoria's Secret Fragrance Body Mist - £8.20 here.
I've lusted after the Victoria's Secret body mists for quite some time but since I don't have a store near me to try them out, I will have to gamble at fragrances that I like. Love the sound of "Strawberries & Champagne" and "Mango Temptation".

Non-branded Perfume Atomiser (Travalo) - £0.99 here.
I love my Travalo and can't be without it in my handbag, I have both the original and now a few un-branded versions such as this one. They don't leak and are pretty much the same thing. Since you can't re-fill Travalo's too easily without smelling of the previous scent, these are cheap to buy and pop in your bag with your favourite scent of choice.

Macaron Jewellery Storage - £0.99 here.
I've seen these before on Ebay and forgot about them until I saw them again recently. They look such cute storage and I'm forever losing jewellery so these would be perfect. I move to a different city in 2 weeks so once I'm moved and settled, these would be perfect on my new dressing storage!

So there's my favourites, I'd love to hear which are yours?

First Impressions & Haul

Considering Christmas has just been and gone and generally January is a month where people tend not to spend, I've had a few gift cards needing to be spent so here's some of the things that I've bought recently. A few of the items I have tried before so here's my first impressions on these items.

Maybelline had a buy one get one half price offer on in Boots so I thought I'd stock up on a couple of items that I wanted. The first thing I grabbed was the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pink Gold. I've already got a few of these in different shades but wanted an every day colour I can sweep on when I'm lazy or in a rush. So far I love the formula and it doesn't crease easily like some of the other shades. I've seen lots of the Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils and swatched it and instantly loved it. I got the shade Love My Pink.

My new holy grail mascara hands down so far is Lancome Hypnose. Close second is Benefit They're Real but it's much more difficult to remove. I also bought L'oreal Miss Manga Punky as it seems to have a few good reviews! Once I've used up the Lancome Hypnose I'll be back with a review.

I've purchased and adored Bourjois Healthy Mix in the past and in fact it was the first ever foundation that I tried, and made me fall in love with makeup! I love the new packaging and the formula seems to be a tad better too. It's medium-full coverage so I tend not to wear it daily as it can break me out with over-usage.

Bourjois also had a buy one get one half price offer on so I bought the Rouge Edition Velvet in Red Pepper to replace a lost Pink Pong one that one of my kittens kindly miss-placed.. I love the colour and it's a great, long lasting formula without being drying.

Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Powder is a gorgeous highlighter in an even more gorgeous packaging. The box is quite bulky and maybe a tad unnecessary but it certainly stands out. The product itself is lovely but use with a light hand else you may end up resembling a disco ball!

Overall I think I did well choosing the products, what are your favourites from what I bought?

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Grace

Happy belated New Year everyone! Things have been a bit hectic over here and I have been ill over the festive season unfortunately, so the blog has took a bit of a back seat.

That being said, I of course, took full advantage where possible of the online sales and that includes this baby. Nars Audacious lipstick in Grace. I decided to go out of my comfort zone a little in terms of shades that I normally go for, pink and fuschia. I researched all 40 shades that Nars released on Temptalia and decided to go for Grace.

Firstly, the packaging is beautiful. The magnetic closure is such a luxury aspect and I love that I can't lose the lid quite as easily. The standard matte black works well for me too!
Nars Audacious Lipstick Grace Review
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Grace - £24.00 - Lookfantastic (free delivery) here.

Nars Audacious Lipstick Grace Review
Grace is a gorgeous, bright, coral-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation is as good as all Nars products and one swipe is a good enough colour amount. It doesn't feel particularly moisturising, I have very dry lips all year round, so notice this more than others. The consistency is creamy and application is a breeze, but I do personally find that using a lip brush gives a much more even coat then directly from the bullet. Average wear is around 4-6 hours, much less when eating and drinking of course but it's pretty enough to whip out of your bag to re-apply.

Nars Audacious Lipstick Grace Swatch

Overall I love the shade and it's great for a pop of colour, when I leave the rest of my makeup minimal. I'm not one for wearing much red or coral shades so this is definitely stepping outside of my usual colour range.  I'm already eyeing up the next shade I want to buy, which is Michiyo (so predictable).

Have you tried Nars Audacious lipsticks? If so, which is your favourite shade?
