My MUA Training | Louise Constad

Happy December everyone! I can't believe how fast this year has come round and just how much it has changed for me. I am now a qualified Makeup Artist and although this is only the beginning, I'm so pleased I took a risk for a completely new venture and it's paying off.

I'm sure I will miss things off so may add to this post as and when I remember different points.

Day 1 - Base

So day 1 was completely about the base, foundation. We learnt how to colour match our clients and the correct way of applying foundation. I was most worried about colour matching but using our kit foundation which was Mac Face and Body, it was very easy. We were also told the importance of keeping up with fashion and makeup trends, I then subscribed to a yearly Vogue subscription!

Day 2 - Eyes

The entire day was based around eyes, with a few chats in between about the importance of marketing, building your clients along with your website and business cards. I found this very useful and absorbed everything she said instantly. We then got round to practising eyes, this part I found the most stressful. Louise makes it look so easy to do any winged eyeliner and a smokey eye look. I found it very useful and spent that evening practising for the following few days ahead. The poor models had their eyes wiped and re-applied, thank goodness for makeup remover.

Day 3 - Lips & Contouring

I thought this was going to be the easiest day, boy was I wrong! Having done both on myself daily, it's so much difficult to apply this on other people and learn where the best place to apply bronzer is on the client. Lipstick is by far my favourite makeup so I loved putting this into practice with the perfect red lips. We learnt more about our CV and invoicing as well as where to get our latest fashion news.

Day 4 - Nails

On day 4 we put everything that we'd learnt the previous days into practice and had to do it all under 30 minutes which was difficult! We were then introduced to Louise's agent, Mandy Coakley Represents, who told us about what they do and how they help MUA's with their career as well as hair stylists, stylists etc. In the afternoon we then had some words of wisdom from Lauren from, who was lovely to catch up with again, and she told us a lot of good tips to get us started.

Day 5 - Photoshoot Day

This was the scariest day. The night before I spent getting prepped and organising my kit so that I could be productive the next day. The models were from M&P who were all stunning and so professional, which made our job a lot easier! Hair was done by the fabulous Lisa Laudat and fellow student Kieron Lavine. Photographer was Vincenzo Aiello.
The day flew so fast and I found that I wasn't as nervous on the day as I thought! The entire course was an amazing experience and one I won't forget in a hurry! It was a very intense week but I loved it.

I 100% recommend Louise's course and if you are also thinking about doing one, her website link is here. The week long course currently costs £1250 and well worth it. This includes the kit that you need to start your first job, plus all the years knowledge and experience that Louise can give you.

If you have any questions about the course then please feel free to send me a message and I'll be happy to answer them. For more pictures please see Louise's blog too here.
