I struggle finding a great mascara and tend to stick to the same ones. I used the Maybelline Great Lash years and years ago but forgotten what I felt about it so when I saw it was only £4.99 in Boots I threw it in my basket as part of their 3 for 2 deal, which has now finished and hoped for the best.
Maybelline is my go to brand for mascaras. They do the job and there's always one in their collection that I like. My problem with lashes is that I just don't really have any. They're fair, you can barely see them when I have no mascara on and from sleep-pulling problems, they're tiny. I rarely use false eyelashes too as I still can't find the knack for it :(
First things first, I quite like the packaging. It's what draws you in to a product as we all know, so I wanted to try it out immediately. I went for Blackest Black as it was the darkest option. The wand was a bit of a disappointment. I'm used to long, thinner wands at the moment and finally decided I prefer them. The colour pay off is pretty good but like everything I buy, it needs to last else it will be binned.
This lasts a good amount of time, on average around 6-7 hours but their claim isn't staying power, it's intense colour without clumps. So I put it to the test. No clumps indeed, so far so good! Applying is a doddle and I'm enjoying using it, but I don't love it. It's ok for £4.99 and to be honest I probably will re-purchase it again.
My attitude to mascara has changed. I've never, ever finished a mascara. Because they only last 3-6 months, when they start to dry up I obviously just throw them but sometimes some last longer. I tend to go off common sense rather than tossing things out straight after 3 months. I have never had an infection from this (touch wood!).
Pros of the product:
Easy to remove
Prone to under eye smudging
Doesn't hold a curl that well - on me anyway!
Not a fan of the wand
