Sometimes you just can’t justify spending a lot of money on something you can find elsewhere for a little bit cheaper. That’s what happened when I really wanted the NARS Laguna bronzer and Orgasm Blush duo. I didn’t want to pay £30 for it so decided to go on the hunt for a similar product and came across the Elf blush and bronzer duo. The Elf packaging doesn’t match up to the NARS packaging by any means, but it’s still quite simplistic and pretty.
The product itself did let me down a little bit. The blusher is so shimmery and isn’t something I’d wear on a daily basis. I felt it was quite chalky and the shimmer alone put me off the product. The bronzer isn’t so bad, but is quite dark for my skin tone so I wouldn’t wear this on a daily basis either. Weekends and evenings I would easily wear the darker contour shade though as I like to make an effect.
I can’t compare it to the NARS products either but looks alone, they look similar. You get a fair amount of product (8g) which doesn’t look a lot but I’ve used it a few times and it still looks brand new. I probably won’t get to the bottom of the pan anytime soon.
|Elf Blush & Bronzer Contour Duo - £3.75|
Here is what Elf say:
“Create a healthy and natural glow all year long. The Blush highlights the cheeks to add a flush of color, while the Bronzer accents and contours cheekbones for beautiful definition. (Blush and Bronze both have a soft shimmer).
Brush on the “bronze” to the hollow of the cheeks for definition and dust around the face line to create a healthy glow. Use the “blush” on the apple of the cheeks to create a subtle healthy glow.”
I use the bronzer just below my cheek bones to contour and slim my face slightly, then the blush from the apples of my cheeks towards my ears (it’s hard to explain in writing!) and then follow with a highlighter above the blusher where the light would naturally light. I also use the bronzer towards my temples.
I like the product, but I just don’t love it. I think for £3.75, it’s a massive bargain and a great starting product if you don’t want to spend £30 on the NARS duo either. It’s great for travelling and I took it on holiday with my last time to save space.
Have you tried both products? What do you think about spending £30 on the NARS duo, do you think it’s worth it?
