Which is the best fake tan for me?

L-R -- St Tropez Bronzing Mousse*, Dove Summer Glow Normal to Dark, Xen Tan Deep Bronze Luxe*, St Moriz Medium Mousse.
I'm sure at some point in your life, the majority of you will have tried fake tan. I tried some many moons ago which scarred me for life, and it was only years later I tried it again and realised products had advanced and I didn't need to look like an oompa loompa after all! Let's face it, general rule is that the more expensive a tan is, the better you'd expect it to be. I'm about to show you a few bargains and that the best tans aren't always the most expensive.

St Tropez is a well known brand, celebrity used and available in many spray tan booths, although I am still yet to have a spray tan, shock horror, I've been let down by their home self tan products. I have been trying this out over the past few weeks and it hasn't wowed me in the slightest. It's an okay product, nothing special for me, but I think I do prefer lotions.
St Tropez Bronzing Mousse is available from Feelunique currently for £22.99 (RRP £30.64).

Next up is my most go to product, the Dove Summer Glow. Although, not directly advertised as "fake tan" this is my holy grail of moisturisers/fake tan. I tend to bulk buy when I see offers and absolutely love it. I started off using the lightest shade, but then the last few bottles, I bought the normal to dark version. It's not once streaked and is so easy to apply. The biscuit smell does linger, but hey that's what perfume/body sprays are for. Superdrug do regular offers so watch out for that but it retails the £5 mark normally.
It's available in tons of places such as Tesco, Boots, Superdrug, Basically any "drugstores". Online, the cheapest I have found it is ChemistDirect £3.40, Tesco £3.00 and Lloyd Pharmacy £2.39.

Xen Tan Deep Bronze Luxe* is an all round brilliant tan. This was my favourite, until I decided actually, the dark one is! The smell ah, if you can go nearby and try it, go just to sniff it, honestly it's amazing. It's vanilla whiffs are enough to make me re-purchase alone! I did a more in-depth review on this recently, so check that out here!

Finally for my first batch, is another bargain fake tan. I found this years ago but applying using just my hands or latex gloves meant it just went streaky and terrible. Things have improved since then and I can apply a little better. This is the mother of all cheap fake tans. I use the medium one just because it seems to be easier to obtain from nearby shops and find it's a nice colour for me. It can streak sometimes and the smell is awful, but you have to get over that sometimes.
You can buy this from places like Home Bargains £2.99, Tesco, Chemists and Amazon for £3.13

L-R -- Xen Tan Dark Lotion Hale Intense*, Asda Instant Lotion Self Tan, Xen Tan Scent Secure Gold Tinted Moisturiser*
I'll start with the absolute best all rounder tan that I've ever tried, Xen Tan Dark Lotion*. Of course, everybody is different and some only like it light, I used to be one of those people until I tried this tan. I actually got this in a goody bag at an event I attended and was so happy with it that I've ordered a full sized version, which is hopefully due soon! I love Xen Tan as a brand and think their ethics to tanning match my needs as a completely pale girl. This is on offer at the moment on Feelunique for £19.75 including delivery! Steal, normal RRP £28.99, get yours here

If you tan properly, i.e. exfoliating, moisturising, prepping the skin properly, then the majority of the time you shouldn't get any streaks, although I can't vouch for how orangey some tans are!

The Asda Self Tan is one I bought last summer while throwing things in my basket, as you do, it was only £3.50 so I had to try it. This shows how scared I was even 1 year ago with trying to darken my fake tans. This is light, really light in fact, so I tend to only use this on my face these days. This is a great colour and I'm pretty sure they do a darker version, don't quote me on that though!

Another Xen Tan to the collection (not the last either). The Xen Tan Scent Secure Gold Tinted Moisturiser* is another favourite, although quite hard for me to wear on my face like I originally wanted. It does go a little streaky on my face, I sometimes have to really buff it in, in fact as I'm writing this I am wearing it today and just noticed it's gone a little cave-girl ish (if you know what I mean) all around my cheeks and jaw-line, not pretty. This is also on offer on Feelunique for £24.30 plus free p+p!

L-R -- Tanatomicals Me Tarzan, You Jane, We Cheaters, Instant Spray Tan in a can*, St Tropez Perfect Legs Spray
I couldn't pick between these two which I loved the most, so I threw them both in. I put off using the Tanatomicals Instant Spray Tan in a can for a while, until I needed some last minute tanning before leaving the house and spraying it, the first time I did it was completely messed up. Word of warning, do not do it too close to your skin, this isn't the way forward! I used it approx 30-40cm away from my body and sprayed lightly, having a tanning mitt on hand to get rid of tell-tale signs of fake tanning. It's quite dark which I like, but if you don't, this may not be for you! You can buy Tanatomicals Spray Tan in a can for £6.99 from Superdrug or ASOS for £7 with free delivery at the moment.

The St Tropez Perfect Legs Spray is a tad lighter, the only thing I think is ridiculous is how tiny this can is. I got this in some form of beauty box (I forgot which sorry!) I like this, but I just wasn't wowed by it. A lot of people swear by St Tropez, but unfortunately it isn't for me! You can buy this for £10 from ASOSFeelunique (Currently £7.50 UK only) and Boots and Superdrug stores.

Fake Bake Gradual Fake Tan Fair Skin
Last but not least, hold on we're nearly done guys, is the Fake Bake Gradual Self Tan lotion for Fair Skin. I used to love this as a treat back in my scaredy cat days and it's forgotten about these days, but I still love it just as equally. It's a great buildable day-to-day tan and the fair/light version gives a very natural glow.
Feelunique sell this for £20.25 and Amazon £19.36 (both free p+p)

Hope this mammoth post helped you somewhat and let me know if you think I should include any others! I haven't tried any Vita Liberata (Hello Millie Mackintosh) or Famous Dave's tanning products (next on my list) so if you recommend those, let me know too!

A Night In Manchester (A Boyfriends view)

I meant to schedule this to be posted ages ago and have only just noticed it hasn't, so here it is!

Firstly,  Im going to let you into a little secret...todays post will not be written by Paula, but by me, her Boyfriend. Ive been pestering her to write on her blog (which im extremely proud of!) since she started doing it, so she has finally succumbed and let me write a post (under the conditions she is allowed to spell check it first!). So here goes...

As you may already know from the York post, It was our 1 year anniversary last weekend, so we planned a few nights/days away to celebrate! We spent the Thursday in York and then I had booked for us to spend the night in the Malmaison hotel in Manchester. Paula attended a Xen-Tan event at the hotel and was describing to me how amazing the hotel was, so while she was on the train home I decided to book us in as a little treat! :)

We both really enjoy Manchester as a city, mainly due to the fact there is a Taco Bell to keep me happy and enough expensive shops and make-up for Paula! As its so expensive to park in the city centre, we decided to get the train in to save hassle of driving! I was really amazed by the hotel! Everything was thought of and every detail was top notch! I will show you a few little snaps we took of the room:

The room was a really modern and comfortable style and immaculately clean! I loved the black and white colour design of the room.

A room with a view...
What we thought was some complimentary nibbles, I was just about to dive into these when Paula saw a price list...would have been a costly mistake!!
The bathroom was simply stunning! Im a bit of a secret bathroom lover, often judging a place by the quality of its bathroom, this place was just amazing.

Encouraged to take these toiletries home? I dont need asking twice!
This shower was unbelievable. It felt like I was in a rain forest!
Even the room key was well designed...

This has to be the best drink around! Love the little foil cover on the top, so you can guarantee that the top is nice and clean :)

Some views of Manchester

Sorry - Blurry train picture!

Paula with the other man of her life...Thumper
Hopefully I haven't bored you too much reading this and it has been a bit different for you! All in all, we had a lovely weekend in Manchester, with lots of nice surroundings and good food. The restaurant at the Malmaison was absolutely brilliant! As quite a "foody" person, I have had some nice meals in my life, but I can honestly say this was the best ive ever had!! We will have to get saving the pennies for another trip and so should you!

Back to me again, and finally I really enjoyed my stay at the Malmaison and already keep looking at deals for my next stay. If you went to the Xen Tan event then you'll already have seen how nice it is! Hope you enjoyed something different!

Thanks for reading!! :)

Face Products

I just wanted to do a quick post on my most used cheek and brow products at present. I try so many different things on a weekly basis, but these are the products I keep going back to. So, hope you enjoy!

L-R -- Vivo Ultimate Brow and Eye Kit RRP £5 (Gone up in price since I bought, cheeky Tesco)
I'm not one for going O.T.T on my eyebrows but I do like to lightly fill them in amongst try and battle with my stray brows that go in all kinds of directions.
As well as my favourite brow kit, the Vivo Ultimate Brow and Eye Kit, I love the Benefit Speed Brow to keep them in place all day. Speed brow isn't cheap by any means (RRP £18) but the Vivo kit was actually bought on a whim when I needed a little angle brush! It was only £4. Bargain.

Other favourite brow kits I use is the Benefit Browzings and Elf Eyebrow Kit, both just as good and do the job!

L-R -- Mac Blush Well Dressed, The Balm Fratboy, Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer (old packaging)
I love these 3 products and interchange them regularly when I'm on the go. Mac Well Dressed is a staple blush that every girl needs. It suits all skin tones and is very subtle. I love it.
The Balm FratBoy was a Carmine addition (RIP Carmine) and I was so pleased to have received it! This is a little darker than Mac Well Dressed but it's a lovely pink warm shade.
Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer is an old favourite. I use this to contour rather than put it all over my face. There are tiny speckles of shimmer which I prefer not to put all over my face, but just using to contour is fine. (Since taking these pictures, I've actually thrown the new MUA Bronzed Perfection into my daily make-up kit review here)

Left -- Boots Vitamin E Eye Cream, Top -- MUA Every Lash Mascara, Bottom -- L'oreal False Lash Telescopic
These 3 products are my everyday go to eye products. I've been using the Boots Vitamin E Eye Cream for quite some time now and it's great for brightening the under eye area. I've not noticed any significance in my 21 year old wrinkles which are starting to creep up on me but it's a great eye cream and is only £2.54. (Boots are currently on 2 for £4 so snap it up quick) You can buy from Boots here.

The MUA Every Lash Mascara is an amazing bargain. It's currently on offer for £2 on the MUA store site so get it quick! The wand isn't dissimilar to the L'oreal False Lash Telescopic, but I still prefer the L'oreal False Lash every time. I don't find that it's dark enough for me but overall it does help with volume, which I am lacking a lot of.

L'oreal False Lash Telescopic is the best mascara I've tried. I bought this at duty free coming back from my holiday in April and it was a lot more expensive than here actually, I wish I knew at the time but hey that's duty free for you. You can buy L'oreal Telescopic from Boots for £10.99, Currently £8.41 on offer at Feelunique here with free delivery

L-R -- The Vintage Cosmetic Company Eyelash Curlers, Benefit Eye Bright Pencil, Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer.
These 3 are more of my must have favourites including my Vintage Cosmetic Company Eyelash Curlers that I got in my She Said Beauty Box. These replaced my trusty Primark curlers and I'm so glad! They were quite rubbish to tell you the truth and these fit in my makeup bag, are easy to use (no ripping out my eyelashes like my Primark ones) and easy to clean after getting mascara on them. Feelunique are currently doing them on offer for £5.60.

The Benefit Eye Bright Pencil is something I've had for too long. I've had it that long, I lost it for a while and re-discovered it again lately, hence how little it's been used. It's been sharpened lots to make sure no bacteria is lurking, don't worry. I use this to highlight underneath my brow bone and also on my lower lash line. It makes me look a lot more awake than I am at 8am when at work! You can buy this from Feelunique for £14 with free p+p.

The Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer is something I reviewed recently, so instead I'll leave you the link for that here.

What are your favourite every day products? If you have any similar posts, or things you recommend that I should try, feel free to comment!

Sleek Rose Gold

L-R - Sleek Palette Blush by 3 in Lace - Sleek Blush Rose Gold

How amazing is this Sleek blusher? I bought this and another blusher online (review to follow once I've tried it out) having not swatched either blushers previously and I was so impressed! Firstly how cute is their packaging, cliché but it is sleek. It's small, fits perfectly into my handbag/make-up bag/muji storage which is great for weekend travelling.

Once I'd swatched it and looked, I thought it looked similar. I have the Blush by 3 in Lace, I did a review when I first started blogging and when I look back, it's really cringeworthy and the photo looks nothing like the product, what was I thinking? Anyway, back to this, the middle blusher looks exactly like the Rose Gold blusher but they have different names so not sure if they are the same thing? Overall I do love it, it's quite shimmery so if you're not into that then this may not be for you.

The quality is good and it lasts for about 6 hours on average. I love it and think this may well become part of my daily routine!

Have you tried Sleek blush in Rose Gold before? What do you think of the shade choice, do you think it's the same as the middle shade in Blush by 3?

You can buy this online at Sleekmakeup.com (they do ship internationally) and also in Superdrug stores for £4.49.
