Elf Makeup Mist and Set

Elf Makeup Mist and Set

Never did I say I have a love/hate relationship than I do with the Elf Mist and Set. Firstly, it's amazing for what it says, setting your makeup. I used to use the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and I wasn't so keen on the smell, nor was I noticing a huge difference in my skin so I thought I'd find something new to try and a little kinder on the budget. The packaging is pretty simple, nothing too fancy but it does the job.

It's pretty simple but you basically spray it at a distance of around 30cm after you've completely finished your makeup and wait for it to dry. I have had some occasions where I've nearly left the house and I've had a few streaks attempting to ruin my day round my jawline, but nothing blending with my fingers didn't save.

The one, huge thing though that puts me off this, is the smell. It's absolutely awful. The only way I can describe the Elf Studio Mist and Set is like sick. I have tried holding my breath until it's fully dry, I would die if I held my breath that long. It's such a shame as it's so good for holding my make-up all day throughout work. If you can get past the scent I'd recommend it hugely, but be prepared in advance, no hoping for the minty Caudalie Elixir smell! I'm not too sure if I got a dodgy product but either way, I wish there was a better scent. :(

I found my make-up has been lasting a lot further than my usual time but I only tend to spray it in the morning then use my Caudalie Elixir, well, the tiny amount I have left anyway as it's much more pleasant as a pick-me-up than this! Overall though, I do like it, I'd stock up on tons of bottles if they changed the fragrance. I had no hint of cucumber in mine but that would be quite nose friendly.

Elf do regular discounts on their Facebook/Twitter so watch out for them but you can buy the Makeup Mist and Set for £3.75 (60ml) on their site here.

  1. I've never used a product like this before but I think I'll have to as my makeup ends up everywhere but my face after a few hours. I'll have to have a look where it's sold in Australia. Hopefully I can deal with the smell!
